Recent opera engagements include her debut at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen as Clio in the world premiere of Crusade by Frederik Neyrinck, The Nurse in Nicholas Lens’s Shell Shock at the Philharmonie de Paris, and the role of Della in Eric Whitacre’s The Gift of the Magi at Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles) and Carnegie Hall (New York) and with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra. Last season she made her Verdi debut as Oscar in Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera for the Alden Biesen Summer Opera Festival. Other world premieres include Juliette in Paternel by Frank Nuyts and Romy Schneider in Elle est moi und töte mich by Joris Blanckaert.

The concert stage is were Laurence's heart beats just as strong! She has sung the sacred music of J.S. Bach with Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Magnificat by C.P.E. Bach with the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra at the Berliner Philharmonie, and the Christmas Oratorio with Lautten Compagney Berlin, as well as the Johannes Passion with Aspetti Musicali. Her Mozart is spirited and sincere, whether in Davide Penitente with Sigiswald Kuijken and the European Philharmonia Orchestra or the Requiem with the Grammy Award-winning Louisville Orchestra. From Handel’s Messiah in Los Angeles to Telemann’s St. Luke Passion and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater in Flanders, she has performed with some of the most respected ensembles across Europe and the U.S.

A dedicated recitalist, Laurence creates programs in which music, poetry, and storytelling meet. Her current recital projects include L’Heure exquise and Verlaine & Rimbaud, which she performs throughout Europe. In Verlaine & Rimbaud, Laurence combines the French song repertoire with her own compositions, creating a musical and dramatic narrative around the turbulent relationship between the two poets. Her debut album, INSTA SONGS, features her original poetry and compositions alongside works by composer Mathias Coppens.

She has led Lied masterclasses at Chapman University, California State University Northridge and at the Festival of Voice Dublin. Her masterclass series are called Painting a Poem, focusing on the poetic and narrative aspects of song interpretation.

Upcoming engagements include performances of Verlaine & Rimbaud at the Liederzeit Festival in Kortrijk, Ter Vesten in Beveren, and the Close Opera Festival in Ghent. She will also make her debut at La Monnaie /De Munt as Elisabeth Lackersteen in the world premiere of Prach Boondiskulchok’s Burmese Days.

In December, Laurence releases her new album Greek Songs, a musical journey to the Greek island of Chios bringing together Ravel’s art songs and new compositions by Laurence herself. The project pays homage to the pioneering phonographic recordings made on Chios by linguist and ethnomusicologist Hubert Pernot, whose collection of Greek folk melodies helped preserve the musical traditions that inspired Ravel’s songs. 

Alongside her performing career, Laurence is increasingly active as a composer. She is currently composing the new children’s opera Een trui om in te wonen (A Sweater as a Home), in collaboration with librettist Marieke van Hooff.
